CHRISTIAN FORUMS-PRAYER REQUESTS-QUESTIONS-COMMENTS!
A child of God has authority over the devil and his demons the second they become a child of God. On October the 18th, 1983 at 3 pm I had authority over the devil and tons and tons of grace. If a child of God does not know they have authority it is very difficult to exercise authority over the devil and his demons and that is one of their biggest goals is to be sure you don’t know you have authority over them and that is God’s biggest goal is to be sure that you know you have authority over satan and his band of renegade angels so that He can fulfill HIS plan and purpose for our lives. On October the 18th, 1983 I made a covenant with God and although I did not realize I was making a covenant with God that still does not change that covenant. My God has sent His Son to give me an abundant life, but I needed to know that their was an enemy that was out to steal or destroy everything I had and that was bent on killing me before God's appointed time for me to die and that God had given me authority over the very enemy that was out to steal, destroy and kill.
John 10:10, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
John 14:12-14, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my Name, I will do it." Our goal as a Christian should be to fulfill Mark 16, the Great Commission, Mark 16:15-18, "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name [Jesus] shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." and if we are fulfilling the Great Commission we are doing better than the average Christian, but why aren't we doing greater works than Jesus like He said we would?
Second Timothy 2:19-22, "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet [worthy] for the Master's use, and prepared unto every good work." First John 5:18, "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not." Hebrews 6:1-3, "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit."
We have been told to purge ourselves of all iniquity and keep ourselves so the wicked will not touch us and to go on to perfection which is going to be very difficult unless we understand our battle and the "Authority of the Believer" over the wicked during that battle that Ephesians 6:10-13 speaks of, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
In Exodus 14, as the Israelites are fleeing Egypt and the Egyptian army are baring down on them and the people are about to panic, we read in verses 13 through 16, "And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will shew you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them no more forever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it; and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea." We read in verse 21, "And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left."
The Lord told Moses to lift up his rod and divide the sea and then it says the Lord caused the sea to go back. God acted on Moses faith and Moses acted on His faith in God. God said, "Wherefore criest thou unto Me?", because all Moses had to do was point his rod and speak the Word and God would have done His part and now God needs us to speak to the spirits behind sickness and disease and divorce and abortion and the problems in this world and fulfill Mark 16:15-18. God needs us and we most definitely need Him and we are to labor together with God and under our new and better covenant we can all take the Rod, the Word of God, spoken in the Name of Jesus, and move mountains and open seas. As we read earlier in Revelation 19:15, "And out of His [Jesus] mouth goeth a sharp sword [The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God], that with it He should smite the nations; and He shall rule them with a rod of iron." That's our Lord-Jesus-The Word of God they are talking about and also in the story of His spiritual birth in Revelation 12:5, "And she brought forth a Man Child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne."
People ask me what's wrong with this world and I tell them that God has left us in charge in the Name of Jesus and we, as born again Christians that have determined to do things God’s way, are failing to recognize the works of the devil and exercise our authority over him and his evil angels by knowing what the Word of God says about our battle and rise up and defeat the powers of darkness. As we have learned, we are in a war that most of us don't even know is being fought and the enormity of the battle has been beyond our scope of belief until now, but we are going to understand the enormity of the battle and begin to take our authority and change this world. Praise the Lord! First John 3:8, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."
God used a teaching from tape three of a four tape series by Kenneth Hagin titled, "Authority of the Believer" as the basis for teaching me that I have authority in the spiritual realm if I so desire. Brother Hagin was talking to Jesus in a vision in 1952 and all of a sudden a demon in a smoky haze got between Brother Hagin and Jesus. Brother Hagin said it looked like a little monkey or an elf and began to go yackity, yackity, yack in a loud shrill voice. He couldn't see Jesus clearly and knew He was talking, but he couldn't understand what Jesus was saying because of the "yackity-yack." He wondered what was taking Jesus so long to do something about the demon that was between them, because Brother Hagin wanted very badly to hear what Jesus was saying. Finally, in desperation, he said, "You foul spirit, in the Name of Jesus, shut up." When he said that, the demon fell like it was shot and rolled over and began to shake like a whipped pup. Brother Hagin said, "Not only shut up, but get out of here." The demon said, "I sure don't want to, but if you tell me to, I am going to have to." The cloud disappeared and the demon ran off and Brother Hagin could see Jesus clearly and understand what He was saying. The "yackity-yack" was gone. Remember that Brother Pittman reported that the demons were with him and his escorting angels all the way to the gates of Heaven. We must realize that we have authority in the Name of Jesus over the demons that are creating the "yackity-yack" in our lives and speak the Word of God to them.
Brother Hagin was wondering why Jesus didn't do anything about the demon that got between them and Jesus knew what he was thinking and said, "If you hadn't done something about that I couldn't." Brother Hagin replied, "You don't mean you couldn't, you mean you wouldn't." Jesus told him, "There is nothing in the New Testament that tells the church that if they pray to me or God the Father, that we will do anything about the devil and in fact, for the church or the Christian or the believer to pray that Jesus or God the Father will rebuke the devil is wasting their time." Brother Hagin said, "I sure have wasted a lot of time" and he then asked Jesus to show him in the Bible where it says that and he asked Him for three scriptures and Jesus told him He would give him four.
The tape began with the scripture reference in Ephesians 1:18-22, "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church," Colossians 2:10 says, "And ye are complete in Him [Jesus], which is the head of all principality and power." We are complete and the heads of all principality and power through Jesus, the Word of God. Jesus is the head of the Church and we are His body and a Head without a body is useless and a body without a Head has no direction. God has put all things under Jesus' feet and through being quickened together with Christ far above all the evil in this world we have the ability to make His enemies His footstool. Hebrews 10:12-13, "But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till His enemies be made His footstool."
Now read this carefully, Ephesians 2:4-7, "Now God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus." We, spiritually, are seated with Jesus in heavenly places and we might not think like it or look like it or feel like it or act like it, but we are, and we need to start thinking like it, acting like it, feeling like it and looking like it. As far as the spirit world is concerned we are seated with Jesus far above all the evil in this world and this is the same evil that we wrestle with and don't have to.
Now let's look at the four scriptures that Jesus gave Brother Hagin to show that it is our authority in the Name of Jesus that will give us power over the devil and that God will move when we speak His Word over any situation. Mark 16:15-18, "And He [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name [Jesus] shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover."
Jesus gave us authority in His Name and in the Name of Jesus we will cast out devils and lay hands on the sick and they shall recover and we will speak in new tongues or languages. Jesus doesn't speak, we speak, Jesus doesn't lay hands, we lay hands in the Name of Jesus, Jesus doesn't cast out, we cast out in the Name of Jesus and we do all this in the Name of Jesus. Jesus or our heavenly Father aren't going to do these things we are in the Name of Jesus. We co-labor with Jesus and we can't do anything without Jesus and Jesus can't do anything without our hands, our arms, our voices to speak and exercise authority in the Name of Jesus in faith. God’s plan was to duplicate His Son by the millions and when the devil sees us he sees Jesus, but satan’s plan is to keep us from knowing we have authority and to keep us feeling unworthy to exercise our authority in the Name of Jesus.
I read an article recently about people that have made a religion out of the scripture in Mark 16:18 about taking up serpents and they actually have poisonous snakes at their services and handle them to show how spiritual they are and if they are bitten and die they become a martyr. It is sad that sincere people can be so sincerely wrong. The word serpents in this scripture is the Greek word "ophis" and is derived from the Greek word "optomai", which has to do with the ability to see. The definition of "ophis" is "probably from 'optomai' (through the idea of sharpness of vision); a snake, figuratively (as a type of sly cunning) an artful malicious person, especially satan:-serpent." Jesus was telling us that we shall take up, and be able to see, devil's strongholds, but we can't destroy the devil's stronghold's if we can't recognize them. For instance, "It's okay, everybody is doing it!" We must learn to recognize the devil's strongholds and take the Name of Jesus and destroy them. Matthew 18:18, "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven." Matthew 12:28-29, "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house." Bind or rebuke and loose in the Name of Jesus.
John 16:23-24, "And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my Name [Jesus], He will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my Name; ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth [rebukes] not; and it shall be given him."
Remember that Jesus told Brother Hagin, "There is nothing in the new testament that tells the church that if they pray to me or God the Father, that we will do anything about the devil. In fact, for the church or the Christian or the believer to pray that Jesus or God the Father will rebuke the devil is wasting their time." The next three scriptures Jesus gave Brother Hagin were, James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.", First Peter 5:8-9, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith." and Ephesians 4:27, "Neither give place [ground] to the devil." In any encounter with spiritual wickedness in high places, when we are exercising our authority, we must be sure that we are submitted to God. We can't yield to the attack of the enemy and give him place and think we have authority over the devil at the same time. We need to deal with our own stronghold’s first and steadfast is "stereos", solid, stable, strong, sure.
Acts 19:11-16, "And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists [Strong’s Number 1845-to bind by an oath (or spell)], took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, we adjure [3726-put on oath] you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded."
Paul had authority in the Name of Jesus because he had determined to do things God's way, but the sons of Sceva hadn't and were trying to exercise authority by using witchcraft in the Name of Jesus when they needed to determine to do things God’s way. They were tares just like the man in Matthew 7:21-23, because they had never repented. God couldn't do His miracles without Paul and Paul would have been just like the sons of Sceva if he hadn't been submitted to God and had authority in the Name of Jesus. James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Mark 16:17, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my Name shall they cast out devils;"
Second Timothy 2:4, "No man that warreth entangeleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who has chosen him to be a soldier." Mark 4:18-19, "And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the Word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the Word, and it becometh unfruitful." First Corinthians 9:24-27, "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
The covenant that I have made with God was sealed by the Holy Ghost on November the 26th, 1983. God will never break our covenant, but, unfortunately, we can allow the devil and his demons to come between us and God and make us think that our covenant is broken and then our authority will be severely hampered when we agree with the fiery darts of the wicked and we must immediately begin to restore our relationship with the Most High God. The quicker we get rid of whatever we have allowed to come between us and God by giving the devil place the quicker we will restore our confidence in our authority. We have authority at all times, but it is not possible to have authority over satan and his demons in any area we are allowing him to have place in our lives until we resist him. This must be full-time resistance not just a resistance that is convenient. James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Anytime we find ourselves out of God's will and in satan's will, we have the option to renounce the adverse activity at any millisecond and restore our relationship through First John 1:9.
I want to be sure that you understand that as I go through the fire or purging or attack that I still have authority over the devil. You have authority the second you become a child of God and you wouldn't be able to go through life without being able to take authority over your circumstances. Every one of God’s promises in the Bible is still true no matter what we do and the Holy Ghost had me learn how to bind and loose early in my walk with Him. The reason we go through the fire is not to be destroyed, but to be loosed from the devil's strongholds in our lives so that we can become the useful Saint of God of Second Timothy 2:19-21.
I was reading my Bible one day after the bookstore had closed and I got to First John 5:18, "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not." I threw my Bible down and said, "Oh, sure!" Here I was unemployed, divorced, no car, most of my furniture was gone and The Word of God is trying to tell me that the wicked one touches me not! I missed the part about keeping myself. I had a lot to learn, and Jesus, through the Holy Ghost [Acts 1:2], was going to have to teach me so that I could strive to become the righteous man of James 5:16 and keep myself from being touched by the wicked one and I am getting closer everyday, pray and bind and loose in the Name of Jesus.
First John 2:13-14, "I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the Word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one." Overcome, "nikao", to subdue (literally or figuratively) conquer, overcome, prevail, to get the victory. To get the victory we need to know what is normal to God versus what is normal to the world and learn God’s ways by diligently reading His Word and seeking His perfect will for our lives so we won’t give the devil place. Whenever God repeats Himself, pay attention.
Many times we will yield to our circumstance or, in all actuality, the will of the devil, because we don't know what God's will is in a particular situation and that is why knowledge of the battle we are going through is so vital. We have the same authority then as we ever will and are still God's children and He is still there with us no matter what and if we don't know this we will begin to believe the fiery dart of "Your really not saved." "God doesn't love someone like you." "You can't pray, God won’t listen to someone like you." When you begin to take that garbage into your heart then you can never feel worthy to even pray, much less have authority over the devil to destroy his stronghold’s. We need to quit putting our will or someone else's will before God's will and rise up and remove the obstacles that the devil has put in our path and begin to change this world. Do the best you can and stand on the promises of God and God will do the rest. James 4:7 and 8 says "Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you."
When I was trying to figure out what was going on in my life during my marriage, the first thing I needed to do was submit myself to God and I was trying, but I had too much yackity-yack between us, such as my church, my marriage, my bookstore, my going broke, and many other things too numerous and boring to mention. satan had all the ground he needed to keep me from being submitted to God. We need to be able to recognize not only sin, but also the unbelievably huge amount of things satan can come up with to break our fellowship with God as we discussed in chapter six. This is a fellowship that we long for as well as He and we must learn to eliminate the obstacles, the yackity-yack, that we encounter in everyday life that we allow to come between God and us. Mark 4:18-19, "And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the Word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things entering in, choke the Word, and it becometh unfruitful." But never give up and remember God will never leave you nor forsake you! Hebrews 13:5-6, "be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."
Hebrews 10:26-31, "For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of Grace?
For we know Him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto Me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge His people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." I have sinned since I obeyed Acts 2:38, but willfully, I don’t know, I have always been miserable whenever I sin and work very hard to get back in the grace of God and stay in the grace of God. Always remember: Let God judge you, not the devil.
Remember First John 1:4-10, "And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. IF we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us."
When things aren't going the way we want them to and there is darkness all around, we have a tendency to blame the devil and that is probably true, but how is he able to bring that darkness into our lives? The real problem here is not the devil, but our submission and the only way that we can be submitted to God and resist the devil so that he will flee, is if we know what the Word says about our situation. If he isn't fleeing we need to go to the Word and see what God's will is in the matter in question and if you don't know God's will take a neutral stance until you can find out what God's will is. It is difficult to recognize darkness and a lack of submission when what you are doing is approved of by a large portion of the population, such as, my church telling me it was all right to marry someone because the church had been told that their husband beat them.
If we want to be able to resist the devil and draw near to God we must not be allowing satan access in whatever area we are resisting him. If it is something I need to be purged of I must be able to recognize it as something that displeases God. James 1:14-15, "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." One day I resisted the devil and he did not flee and I really don't remember what I was being tempted with, but I am sure it was a thought connected to fornication and since, at that time, I didn't know the definition of fornication it was difficult to be submitted to God in that area. When we are having difficulty in any area we must make sure we understand God's will in that area and search the Word and don't be afraid to admit you are wrong when you find the answer isn’t what you want to hear. It doesn't do any good to fight being submitted. When you are sealed by the Holy Ghost He doesn't give up. Pray, praise and worship in tongues and the understanding and bind and loose in the Name of Jesus and obey God’s Word.
We need to be careful not to give the devil place [ground]. Ephesians 4:27, "Neither give place [ground] to the devil. The enemy will then have an opening to come in and obtain more and more ground and once we allow him to obtain a little ground then he will begin to try to get us to give up more and more ground. We can inadvertently loose the devil and his demons to operate in our lives if we don't know what the Word says about our situation and that is one of the main reasons why it is so vital to read and obey God’s Word.
During my marriage I just did the same old things I always did and I tried oral sex, but I knew the Holy Ghost was grieved. Oral sex is so widely accepted that it is easy to think it is okay with God. Oral sex is the end result of a spiritual battle and it is part of fornication-idolatry. I was actually bowing down to a person and worshiping that person at the direction of a demon spirit of perversion and it will undermine our authority and we will not be submitted to God. I am constantly amazed at the different denominations battle over homosexuality. God loves everybody, but oral sex in any form, male-male, female-female or male-female or female-male grieves Him and is the work of demon spirits of perversion and has no purpose in the reproductive process. We must kick the devil out of our bedrooms and keep the marriage bed undefiled. Hebrews 13:4, "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled:"
We must learn to recognize darkness that is caused by being out of the will of God and learn to recognize an attack of the enemy as opposed to being purged of our sins. When I am going through my purging or an attack satan has no more right to steal, kill and destroy in my life than he does when I am not. I have heard people say over and over that they must be doing something right the devil is fighting them, but how is he able to come in and put obstacle after obstacle in our path? Is God allowing him to make it rough for us or are we not submitted? We must be very sure that the Word of God is our God and not a church or ourselves or the world or our ministries or our marriages or our children or our jobs or our flesh or whatever. We need to put our faith in God-Jesus-The Word of God and God-Jesus-The Word of God only.
Once I was wondering, possibly worrying, about whether I was in God's will for my life and as I was leaving the job I was on, and was concerned over whether I was supposed to be there or not, the Holy Spirit in a very gentle, but forceful way let me know that "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want." He had gotten me the job in December of 1987 and since God does nothing haphazardly, in addition to being a good job, it allowed me to meet some fine people and I learned a lot about how the devil can infiltrate the workplace. I have also been on jobs that obviously grieved the Holy Spirit and He wasn’t happy until I quit.
I have never been good at humbling myself. I have finally realized that when satan comes with his temptations sometimes the only way to resist is to humble ourselves before God and rely on His amazing grace to see us through so that we can be purged of our old way of doing things and feel worthy to exercise our authority in the Name of Jesus over the very devil that is tempting us. Knowing who the Word of God says we are and how it tells us to conduct ourselves is very important in keeping from giving place or ground to the wicked. We have to be able to recognize a fiery dart that can be spoken directly to us by a demon or through anybody they can talk into doing it for them and if you look at the tares instead of the Word of God for guidance you will be mis-guided.
First Peter 5:6-11 are one of my favorite scriptures, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting all your care upon Him; For He careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
God has provided us with the weapons to defeat the enemy, now let's use them and purge ourselves and keep ourselves from the wicked one and go on unto perfection and defeat the powers of darkness and set the captives free by fulfilling Mark 16:15-18, "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Let’s review "Christian Unity Through God’s Starter Kit by Jesus."
Chapter One: God wants us to be one and that there be no divisions among us, Philippians 2:2 and First Corinthians 1:10 and others. We were first called Christians-followers of Christ-at Antioch-Acts 11:26. We overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony-Revelation 12:7-11. Mark 4:14-20 illustrates the born again process. We have learned that when someone repents of their old life and determines to do things God’s way a chain reaction takes place in the spirit world. We receive a "Starter Kit" free of charge. When we determine in our hearts to do things God’s way and repent like Mark 1:15, Acts 20:21 and Acts 2:38 tells us we are born again and then we find that it is the goodness of God that has led us to repentance according to Romans 2:4. We are born again, just like in John 3:1-8 and Romans 10:9-11 tells us. We become new creatures according to Romans 6:6-11, Second Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:24 and Colossians 3:9&10. We become dead to sin according to Romans 6:11 and First Peter 2:24. The Greek word for born again is "gennao" that means the process of birth-conception-development-delivery. John 3:3 says we must be born again to see or understand the Kingdom of God. We receive wisdom in Christ Jesus according to First Corinthians 1:30 which enables us to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, Colossians 1:9. We are God’s workmanship through Christ Jesus according to Ephesians 2:10.
Jesus’ name is The Word of God according to Revelation 19:13. Salvation is the Greek words "soteria" and "soterion" and is different from born again, "gennao." The combination of the meanings is rescue or safety (physically or morally):-deliver, health, salvation, save, saving. Defender or by implication defense:-salvation. We confess with our mouth unto salvation-Romans 10:9-11. We must not deny Jesus or the Word of God before men or He will deny us before His Father-Luke 12:8-9. All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, Second Timothy 3:16. The Word of God will remain forever-Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:31 and Luke 21:33. We must test any message we hear that it lines up with the Word of God, First John 1:4-6. Perfect is "artios" and "telelos’-mature, complete, fully qualified, Matthew 5:4 and Second Timothy 3:17. satan can blind minds and take the Word out of hearts-Second Corinthians 4:3-4 and Mark 4:14-15. Jesus will open our understanding-Luke 24:45. We can bind and loose on Earth and it will be bound and loosed in Heaven-Matthew 18:18. Angels are our ministering spirits-Hebrews 1:14. God has vessels of honor and dishonor and we will be a vessel of honor if we purge ourselves of our old ways, Second Timothy 2:19-22. Overcome is "nikao", to subdue (lit. or fig.) conquer, overcome, prevail, to get the victory and is different from born again and salvation. We must be born again to overcome and obtain salvation. We are ambassadors for Christ that are to fulfill the great commission-Second Corinthians 5:18-20 and Mark 16:15-18. We are to lay up treasure in Heaven-6:19-21.
Chapter Two: Jesus gives Peter the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven in Acts 2:38 just like He said He would in Matthew 16:18. The Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven are, "REPENT, and be BAPTIZED everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the HOLY GHOST."
When we repent toward God like Acts 20:21 says we are going through the born again process like John 3:1-12 says. We have an initial repentance [ametameletos] in Second Corinthians 7:10 to enter the Kingdom of God and then we must learn to go to First John 1:8-9 and repent [metanoia] of our old ways. Repentance is determining to do things God’s way. We are called to repentance in Mark 1:15, Acts 2:38 and Acts 20:21. We become dead to sin like Romans 6:1-11 tells us.
We have our sins remitted by the blood of Jesus through baptism in the Name of Jesus according to Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-11, Matthew 26:26-28 and Hebrews 10:14-20. We are baptized into Christ according to Galatians 3:26-27. We have a good conscience when we are baptized, First Peter 3:21 and Hebrews 10:21-23. We must be baptized in the Name of Jesus just like in, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:14-16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5, Romans 6:3, Galatians 3:27 and Colossians 3:17 tells us. Remission is "aphesis", freedom, deliverance, liberty, forgiveness. God will not charge or impute anymore sins to our account-Second Corinthians 5:19 and Romans 4:6-8. You can be baptized more than once like the believers in Acts 19:3-5 that Paul baptized. Communion is a continuation of Baptism-Luke 22:19-20 and First Corinthians 11:23-26. We need to do our best to avoid sin once we are baptized, First John 3:20-22, but when we do we must go to First John 1:9 and clean it up and move on to Hebrews 6:1-6
We must not blaspheme or lie about the Holy Ghost-Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-29 and Luke 12:10. Jesus told His disciples to wait for the Holy Ghost in Jerusalem-Luke 24:45-49 and Acts 1:5. The Holy Ghost is a comforter, Spirit of Truth and abides with us forever and is a Teacher and Prompter, John 14:16-18, 26 and First Corinthians 2:9-16. We receive the Holy Ghost when we speak in our other language or tongues God gives us according to Acts 19:1-7 and Acts 10:38-48 and Acts 2:1-39. The gift of the Holy Ghost and the gift of tongues are not the same, First Corinthians 12:4-11 and Acts 2:38. We must pray in the spirit and the natural, First Corinthians 14:14-15. The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us-Romans 8:26-28. We are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, Second Corinthians 1:22, Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30. We are indwelt by the Holy Ghost according to First Corinthians 6:19-20 and John 14:26. We see the Holy Ghost working all through the book of Acts. We edify or build up ourselves praying in the Holy Ghost-Jude 20 and First Corinthians 14:4. The works of the Cross redeems us and then our redemption is completed by the renewing of the mind through the Holy Spirit-First Corinthians 1:30, Ephesians 1:13-14 and Romans 12:2. We are sanctified, washed and justified, according to First Corinthians 1:30. We are further sanctified, washed and made just by the Holy Ghost according to First Corinthians 6:11. Jesus was sanctified so we could be sanctified, John 17:19-23. We are washed, sanctified and cleansed by the Word according to Ephesians 5:26. We are renewed by the Holy Ghost according to Titus 3:3-8, Romans 12:1-2. Grace teaches, Titus 2:11-15. We have no need of a man to teach us if as the Holy Ghost will teach us, First John 2:26-27.
Chapter Three-We must depart from iniquity to be worthy for the Master’s use, Second Timothy 2:19-21. Peter went through the fire or a sifting and afterwards He wept bitterly, Luke 22:31-34 ans 54-62 and First Peter 1:6-8. God will not send us through the baptism of fire without the Holy Ghost, Matthew 3:11. We will go through the fire only if necessary-First Peter 1:6-7. We must learn the difference between the evil day and the fire-Ephesians 6:13. We who are in Christ Jesus are not condemned when we are in the spirit and not the flesh-Romans 8:1. We must build our houses or lives on the Rock and not sand, Matthew 7:24-27. We must keep the marriage bed undefiled-Hebrews 13:4. Neither give place to the devil, Ephesians 4:27. God will never leave us nor forsake us-Hebrews 13:5-6. Be angry and sin not-Ephesians 4:26. Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the Church-Ephesians 5:25.
Since God is an Invisible Immortal Spirit-Colossians 1:15, Deuteronomy 33:27 and John 4:24 and we were created in His image-Genesis 1:26-27 God created a body for that invisible, immortal spirit and it became a living soul in Genesis 2:7. He created us male and female-Genesis 1:27. There is a natural body and a spiritual body-First Corinthians 15:44 and Second Corinthians 5:6-8. God will bring the dead in Christ with Him-First Thessalonians 4:13-14. We are all one in Christ Jesus, Galatians 3:26-28.
Chapter Four-Jesus came to set the blind, broken-hearted captives free-Luke 4:18-19. God has given us armor to defend ourselves against the wiles of the devil in Ephesians 6:13-18. They are truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, The Sword of the Spirit or The Word of God and prayer. Jesus-The Word of God is the way, the truth and the life, John 14:6. We must worship in spirit and truth-John 4:23-24. Truth came by Jesus-John 1:17. The truth shall make you free-John 8:32. We are given wisdom and when we ask for wisdom we will become wise- First Corinthians 1:30, James 1:5 and Colossians 1:9-10. We must have the truth of The Word of God to overcome the wiles of the devil.
We need the meat and not the milk of the Word to be righteous-Hebrews 5:11-14. God has given us the righteousness [dikaioaune] of God through Christ Jesus-Second Corinthians 5:21, First Peter 2:24, Philippians 3:9 and others, so we can become righteous [dikaios]-James 5:16. We are justified so we can become just-First Corinthians 6:11. We are the temple of God built by God’s workmanship through Christ Jesus unto good works, Ephesians 2:18-22 and First Corinthians 3:16. We are not justified by the deed of the law, but the law has been established by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus-Romans 3:20-28,31. Jesus was our Sacrifice so by His blood we can enter the Holiest in full assurance of faith-Hebrews 10:1-23. God has made us alive by grace and we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:1-10.
We have been given peace with God so we can make peace with God, Romans 5:1, Ephesians 6:15. We must follow those things that make for peace-Romans 14:17-19. God has made us one with Him and restored our fellowship with Him that was disrupted in the Garden of Eden when satan deceived Adam and Eve, Romans 5:12-21, First John 1:3-10. When we don’t seem to be in fellowship with God we need to go to First John 1:3-10 and have our fellowship restored. We are able to humble ourselves to obtain mercy and grace and resist the devil, James 4:5-8, First Peter 5:5-11. We are made glorious or honorable so that we can become honorable-trustworthy, Romans 8:30, Second Thessalonians 1:12.
Chapter Five-The Shield of Faith is found in Ephesians 6:16. Since we know by faith that our adversary is the devil we must resist him in the faith-First Peter 5:8-9. Nothing shall be impossible to us if we have faith the size of a mustard seed-Matthew 17:20. Our faith must come from the Word of God-Romans 10:17. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen-Hebrews 11:1. We walk by faith, not by what we see-Second Corinthians 5:7. God calls those things that be not as though they were when we have faith that God to perform what He promises-Romans 4:17, Acts 12:1-17, 16:19-34 and the story of Abraham and Sarah in Genesis chapters 15-21 and many, many others. God will provide, Genesis 22:1-19. Our works don’t save us-Ephesians 2:8-9. Faith without works, or action, is dead-James 2:17. We are created in Christ Jesus unto good works-Ephesians 2:10. The just live by faith, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38. The worlds were framed by the Word of God-Hebrews 11:3. Jesus-The Word Of God-is the author and finisher of our faith-Hebrews 12:2. We must keep our eyes on the Word of God and not man as the basis of our faith-Matthew 13:24-30, 37-43 and Matthew 7:21-23. We must work out our own faith so that God can do His pleasure with us-Philippians 2:12-13. We cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven without "child-like" faith-Matthew 18:1-4. We can establish our hearts with grace because Jesus-The Word of God is the same yesterday, today and forever-Hebrews 13:8-9. We hold fast the profession of our faith because we know that He is faithful that promised-Hebrews 10:23. There are four stages of faith-intellectual, temporary, dead and real saving. Anything we are striving to obtain from the spiritual realm will go through the stages of the parable of the sower and will end up in Romans 10:9-11 that tells us with the heart [not the head] man believeth. We have faith in God, speak to our mountains and not doubt in our hearts by quenching all the fiery darts of the wicked with The Word Of God and we will have what we say within the will of God-Mark 11:22-24, Romans 10:9-11, Ephesians 6:16, First John 5:14-15, John 14:12-14, John 16:23-24. God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him-Hebrews 11:6. We are given a measure of faith and then we must contend for that faith-Romans 12:3 and Jude 3.
Chapter Six- We have the Shield of Faith to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked, Ephesians 6:16. We must not let things come between us and God, Mark 4:18-19 and Genesis 3:1-10. We must learn to use First John 1:4-2:2 and 3:20-24 and Hebrews 10:14-23 and many others to maintain our fellowship with God. We must bring our thoughts into the obedience of Christ, Second Corinthians 10:5. We defeat the fiery darts with the Word of God just like Jesus did, Luke 4:1-14. We wrestle or contend not against flesh and blood but evil spirits for our measure of faith, Ephesians 6:11-12, Jude 3. We can overcome the wicked one, First John 2:12-14. We can bind and loose in the Name of Jesus-Matthew 18:18. By definition a fiery dart is a thought introduced into our minds to inflame us with anger, grief or lust. satan can speak to us just like he did Eve, Jesus, Peter, Brother Pittman and me, Genesis 3:1-15, Luke 4:1-14 and Matthew 16:21-23. satan can speak to us just like he did through Peter to Jesus, Matthew 16:21-23.
We are at war and the weapons of our warfare are mighty through God, Second Corinthians 10:3-5. We must be sure that the offenses of satan don’t come through us and that we forgive an offense coming through another, Luke 17:1 and Matthew 6:14-15. First John 3:8 tells us that Jesus was manifest to destroy the works of the devil. Our past sins and future sins are covered by Romans 3:24-25 and First John 1:4-2:2. We must be spiritually minded and not fleshly or carnally minded, Romans 8:5-8. We serve the law of God with our renewed mind-Romans 7:21-25 and Romans 12:2. We must keep our minds on the simplicity that is in Christ, First Corinthians 11:3. God has given us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind and not fear-Second Timothy 1:7. We must help people recover themselves from the snare of the devil, Second Timothy 2:24-26. We must not give the devil ground or place, Ephesians 4:27. We resist satan through submission to God and in the faith-James 4:7 and First Peter 5:8-9. To please God we must not entangle ourselves with the affairs of this life, Second Timothy 2:4.
We are redeemed from the curse of the law, Galatians 3:13. We must raise our children by instruction and example, Ephesians 6:1-4. We can be vexed by evil spirits, Luke 6:17-18. God will not allow us to be vexed or tempted above that we are able, First Corinthians 10:13. satan comes to steal, kill and destroy, Jesus came to give us abundant life, John 10:10. We must cast our cares or worries on the Lord and God will exalt us in due time, First Peter 5:6-11 and Matthew 6:24-34. We must submit ourselves to God, James 4:7. Jesus and Philip cast devils out of many with His Word, Matthew 8:16 and Acts 8:6-7 and Mark 5:1-20. The devils will come back looking for an empty vessel and we must be sure it is filled with the Word of God, Luke 11:24-26. We must strive to be led of the Spirit-Romans 8:12-14. If we find ourselves in darkness we must realize our fellowship with God is broken and strive to possess our vessel in sanctification and honor, First John 1:4-2:6, First Thessalonians 4:4. We are the servants of righteousness, Romans 6:18. We need to realize that our Father in Heaven chastises us and we need to bring our flesh into subjection and be partakers of His holiness, First Corinthians 9:24-27 and Hebrews 12:9-10. The Greek words for fornication are pornein and porneuo-harlotry (including adultery and incest) idolatry-to act the harlot-indulge unlawful lust of either sex or (figuratively) practice idolatry-commit fornication. We must strive not to sin so we will not be looking for the fiery indignation of God, Hebrews 10:26-31. The works of the flesh is found in Galatians 5:19-21 and the fruit of the Spirit is found in Galatians 5:22-25.
Chapter Seven-Life will be peaceful and free of oppression and sickness when God’s Holy Mountain-Zion is established on the top of the mountains-Isaiah 2:1-4, 11:6-9, 12:6, 25:6-8, 33:24, 35:5-7, 54:13-14. satan will be locked up for a thousand years-Revelation 20:1-3, and then be loosed for a season and gather together many to make war against the beloved city-Zion-Revelation 20:7-9. We conclude that since he is locked up and everything is peaceful that he is our only problem in this world. satan is a fallen angel that was created to be the song leader in Heaven and he was perfect in wisdom and beauty until iniquity was found in him, Ezekiel 28:11-14. satan and a third of the angels of Heaven were kicked out of Heaven at the occasion of the birth of Jesus, Revelation 12. Through simple math we conclude that we have the other two-thirds of the angels of Heaven on our side. Those that are keeping the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ are at war with satan, Revelation 12:17. We overcome by the word of our testimony and the blood of Jesus, Revelation 12:11.

Chapter Nine-We are to take the helmet of Salvation, Ephesians 6:17. Jesus made a new covenant or testament when He shed His blood on the cross at Calvary, Matthew 26:26-28, John 19:33-34 and Hebrews 8:6-13. God made a covenant with Abraham in Genesis 17:4-12 that is still ours today. We are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands that is of the heart, in the spirit and not in the flesh, Colossians 2:10-15 and Romans 2:28-29. Our immutable covenant with God is an anchor for our souls, minds, and personalities, Hebrews 6:13-20. Immutable is "never changing or varying; unchangeable." Use not liberty as an occasion to sin, Galatians 5:13. The grace of God teaches, Titus 2:11-12. God will never leave us not forsake us, Hebrews 13:5. Jesus will keep us, John 17:12. We need to know we have eternal life, First John 5:13. We need to understand our covenant with God so we wont be entangled in the yoke of bondage Jesus has set us free from and go on and fulfill Luke 4:18-19, Galatians 5:1.
Chapter Ten-We should do greater works than Jesus did, John 14:12-14. We should depart from iniquity to be worthy for the Master’s use-Second Timothy 2:19-22. We need to go on unto perfection, Hebrews 6:1-3. We need God and God needs us, Exodus 14:13-21. We must be submitted to God so the devil will flee when we resist him, James 4:7 and First Peter 5:8-9. We are the heads of all principality and power in the Name of Jesus, Colossians 2:10. Jesus is the Head of the Church and we are His body, Ephesians 1:22-23. In the Name of Jesus we will cast out devils, speak with new tongues, take up satan’s strongholds, drink deadly things and they will not harm us and we shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover, Mark 16:15-18. Whatsoever we ask the Father in the Name of Jesus He will give us, John 16:23-24. We must submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us, James 4:7 and First Peter 5:8-9.
