CHRISTIAN FORUMS-PRAYER REQUESTS-QUESTIONS-COMMENTS!

Malachi 3:8-12, "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts." Remember we are under a better covenant than when this scripture was written and you can count on it being a fact that if when the people in the old testament paid tithes God rebuked the devourer for their sakes, how much more will He do it now, plus we now have authority over the devourer and we can rebuke him also. John 16:23-24, Jesus speaking, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." Mark 16:17, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name [Jesus] shall they cast out devils;" I know that if I pay tithes that God is going to bless me financially. Other than asking God to show us how to be able to pay tithes, we need to know what God has already done for us so that we don't waste time praying for it. Does God want us to have enough to meet our needs and have enough left over to help others? A lot of the things we pray for have already been provided in our covenant that God made with us when He gave His only begotten Son for us. Philippians 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." The Living Bible says "And it is He who will supply all your needs from His riches in glory, because of what Christ Jesus has done for us."

Ephesians 2:21-22, "In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord. In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." First Corinthians 3:16, "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you." If God needs to go somewhere or help someone He needs us to have the money to be able to do whatever He has prepared us to do and having finances to do whatever is all part of the preparation to do whatever He wants us to do. Second Corinthians 9:8, "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things,

may abound to every good work."

John, by the inspiration of God, wrote in Third John, a letter to Gaius, verse two, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." Even as thy soul or mind prospereth and we catch on and learn God's ways and take authority over our situation so that the devil can't steal whatever God gives us. We must thank God every day for supplying our needs. Philippians 4:6-7, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication [deÈesis, a petetion, request] with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Living Bible, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank Him for your answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus." Always remember that we don’t need to be unforgiving, sick and we sure don’t need to be unable to pay our bills and not be able to help others.

King James Version

Living Bible Version

Third John 3-8,

3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers.

6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

7 Because that for His name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the gentiles.

8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth."

Third John 3-8 3 Some of the brothers traveling by have made me very happy by telling me that your life stays clean and true, and that you are living by the standards of the Gospel.

4 I could have no greater joy than to hear such things about my children.

5 Dear Friend, you are doing a good work for God in taking care of the traveling teachers and missionaries who are passing through.

6 They have told the church here of your friendship and your loving deeds. I am glad when you send them on with a generous gift.

7 For they are traveling for the Lord, and take neither food, clothing, shelter nor money from those who are not Christians, even though they have preached to them.

8 So we ourselves should take care of them in order that we may become partners with them in the Lord’s work.

Gaius was helping people that were traveling through and were preaching the gospel, because these people didn't want to ask anything of the Gentile's they were preaching to on their journey. Gaius had caught on and he was giving to spread the gospel. Second Corinthians 9:6-15, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. (As it is written, he hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

Now He that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God. Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift."

I am going to use the same scripture from the Living Bible, but first I want to be sure that you understand what giving sparingly or little and reaping or getting little means and just because someone doesn't have much to give doesn't mean they are giving sparingly. Luke 21:1-4, "And He [Jesus] looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And He said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had." Penury is the Greek word "husterema", a deficit; specifically poverty:-that which is behind, (that which was) lack(-ing), penury:-want.

I finally realized one day that there was no need in me withholding my tithes from God, because my needs exceeded my income and the only way I was going to get what I needed was to tithe and trust God. This is what the woman in Luke was doing, trusting that God would bless her when she gave out of her need to be blessed and when you realize that God is going to meet your every need then you can be a cheerful giver and realize you are giving to God and not man. Second Corinthians 9:7 says that we should not give grudgingly or of necessity and not feel like we have to give and realize that giving is a Godly principle and that God can then act on our behalf when we put our trust in Him. Life in this crazy world we live in is very fragile and we must realize the only thing we have in this entire universe that we can trust is the one and only true Living God when we adhere to His principles and take His Word and speak it over our need and give God thanks He will supply that need.

[If you have a need and you haven’t been paying tithes don’t be afraid to pray and ask God to supply that need and then ask Him to help you be able to begin tithing. My biggest problem with paying tithes is finding a church or ministry that is truly spreading the gospel so that I can feel comfortable giving my tithes to that ministry. God Understands and will guide us to pay our tithes where He wants them to go when we ask for His guidance.] Philippians 4:15-20, Paul is talking about giving to the church at Philippi, "Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen!" When we give we are giving to our Heavenly account so that our Heavenly Father can bless us with sufficiency in all things.

Now let's read the Living Bible version of Second Corinthians 9:6-15, "But remember this-if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much he will reap much. Every one must make up his own mind as to how much he should give. Don't force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes. God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more, so that there will not only be enough for your own needs, but plenty left over to give joyfully to others. It is as the scriptures say: ‘The godly man gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor to him forever.

For God, who gives seed to the farmer to plant, and later on, good crops to harvest and eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest. Yes, God will give you much so you can give away much, and when we take your gifts to those who need them they will break out into thanksgiving and praise to God for your help. So, two good things happen as a result of your gifts-those in need are helped, and they overflow with thanks to God. Those you help will be glad not only because of your generous gifts to themselves and to others, but they will praise God for this proof that your deeds are as good as your doctrine. And they will pray for you with deep fervor and feeling because of the wonderful grace of God shown through you. Thank God for His Son-His gift too wonderful for words."

Colossians 3:14, "And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness."

Chapter 8 of Second Corinthians is preparing the reader for what we just read in chapter nine, verses 6-15. Chapter 8, verse 9 says, "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich." Tie this in with Philippians 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." and you see where we have no business but being blessed financially.

If you are unable to pay tithes and aren't helping others like you feel you should be, ask God to help you find ways to cut down on your expenses and be more efficient in your spending. We all can generally start at the grocery store and eating out and cut back enough to begin to give to God's storehouse. Pray and ask God to help you and you will be amazed at how He will begin to bless your finances. God wants us to be cheerful givers. When we give, God will begin to help us get our finances in order so that we can become the cheerful givers He wants us to be. He wants us to be cheerful givers in what ever we are doing for Him, tithing, preaching, teaching, prophesying, working around the church helping others, ushering, evangelizing, writing or whatever, God wants us to be cheerful.

Some people have the idea that if a preacher dresses nice or drives a nice car or has a nice house he is taking advantage of his congregations giving. We pay all sorts of people, sports and rock stars and whomever, huge sums of money to perform their services or entertain us and think the people that are helping us to spend ETERNITY in Heaven and win our battle with the forces of evil should live like paupers.

Romans 13:1-7, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resiseth the power, resiseth the ordinance [commandments] of God: and they that resist will receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the Sword [The Word of God] in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore you must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

For this cause pay you tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."

I have heard people say these scriptures are talking about the people that are involved in law enforcement or government because of the reference to tribute or tax. The word tribute to the Jews meant a "temple tax." Tribute in Strong’s is, phoÈros; gen. phoÈrou, masculine noun from pheÈro, to bring. Particularly what is borne, brought; hence a tax or tribute imposed upon persons and their property annually, in distinction from teÈlos, toll, which was usually levied on merchandise and travelers Syn.: kensos, a poll tax; Èdrachmon, two (or a double) drachmae, the equivalent of a half–shekel, which was the amount of the tribute in the first century a.d., due from every adult Jew for the maintenance of the temple services; stater, a standard of value equivalent to tetraÈdrachmon or four drachmae which would pay the temple tax for two persons. Now go back and read Romans 13:1-7 again.

Matthew 6:19-21, 24 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also,,,,No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon [wealth]." Once I wasn't paying tithes to where God wanted me to pay them and my finances weren’t being blessed. I have heard people say that all you have to do is give and then it is the responsibility of the people you give your tithes to use it properly. We need to be sure we are paying our tithes where God wants us to pay them. Malachi 3:10 says to bring them into the storehouse, not a church that isn't teaching a full gospel. When I started giving where God wanted me to my finances straightened out. There were people giving to the same church that were obviously well off financially, but we must always remember the wheat and the tares. Luke 4:5-8, "And the devil, taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto Him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve."

We must always remember that our money is all God's anyway, not just ten percent and then we can go on our merry way and do whatever we want with the rest, but 100 percent. God told me that I was accountable for whatever He blesses me with and we must learn to involve Him in every financial decision we make. What may seem like a good idea to us might not be what God wants us to be doing. satan will always try to steal whatever God blesses you with and sometimes when we help people we are really teaching them to be dependent on us instead of God. It's always better to teach someone to fish instead of giving them fish.

In Matthew 19:16-29, we read, "And, behold, one came and said unto Him [Jesus], Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I might inherit eternal life? And He said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good, but one, that is, God; But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto Him, Which? Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

The young man saith unto Him, all these have I kept from my youth up. What lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Then said Jesus unto His disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of Heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God. When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Then answered Peter and said unto Him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone that has forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life."

I was in church one night and the preacher had someone reading these scriptures for him and when the reader got to verse 21 he said, "and give it to the poor." Jesus told him to give to the poor. He didn't tell him to be destitute, He told him to give to the poor. To help the poor and follow Him. satan will send you people to help all day every day if you will let him, but don’t forget God will give you wisdom when you ask for it. I have seen people give and then not be able to meet the needs of their own family. The man didn't stick around long enough to hear Jesus tell them that he would get it back an hundredfold and inherit eternal life which sounds like a good deal to me.

In Matthew 8:14 we read, "And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever." Peter still had his house and wife and mother-in-law and he wasn't destitute. We see that after Jesus was taken up and the disciples were waiting for the Holy Ghost that Peter still had his fishing boat in John 21. When God got Peter out of prison the house he went to had a gate and many were gathered there praying.

God is an all knowing, intelligent God who’s ways are far above our ways and He knows we need money and houses to lay our heads down in to rest up from serving Him and cars and airline tickets to spread the gospel and money to help the poor. You can't spread the gospel as effectively when you are broke, but it depends on the ministry that God has you doing as to how much you need, but He always wants us to have enough to meet our needs and help others. Second Corinthians 9:8, "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."

Matthew 2:9-15, speaking of the wise men, "When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshipped Him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, And take the young child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word. For Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him. When he arose, he took the young child and His mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my Son."

Matthew 2:19-23, "But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, Arise, and take the young child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life. And he arose, and took the young child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee, And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets He shall be called a Nazerene."

Joseph had to have financing to support taking the gospel [Jesus] into Egypt and back into Israel, to Nazareth, a city of Galilee and to finance his trip God sent the wise men to give him gold, frankincense and myrrh. God will always make a way. Nowadays we don't have a church to take our money to that will distribute back to us as we have need and it is rare to find a church that will give you any kind of help in a time of need. They will generally send you to a governmental agency like United Way.

Matthew 6:1-4, "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them; otherwise you have no reward of your Father which is in Heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth. That thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly."
